
About Andy
Andy is an educator with nearly two decades of experience teaching mathematics across grades K–8. He has served as a classroom teacher, math specialist, and curriculum developer, supporting a wide range of learners and instructional contexts. His work focuses on strengthening conceptual understanding, fostering critical thinking, and promoting meaningful student growth in mathematics.
While teaching in Rhode Island, Andy was selected as District Teacher of the Year in 2015 for his success supporting exceptional student growth in mathematics. Since 2016, he has been a middle school mathematics educator at La Jolla Country Day School, where he continues to teach mathematics and support curriculum development. He has taught elementary mathematics and Algebra and has played an active role in the design and implementation of mathematics curriculum for grades K–8.
Andy earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 2011, majoring in International Relations and Spanish. His educational philosophy centers on ensuring equitable access to high-quality mathematics instruction that builds confidence, persistence, and problem-solving skills.
